While Team USA takes the field this summer, we’re adding a few talented players to our own roster. Please join us in welcoming our three summer interns to Apex Engineers! ⚽
Nyah Dogwiler

Nyah is heading into her senior year at the University of Kansas and will graduate next spring with her degree in Architectural Engineering and a minor in Mathematics. She is interning at our Kansas City office this summer working on commercial projects.
What sparked your interest in structural engineering?
My interest in structural engineering stems from my classes. My structural classes have been my most difficult and most enjoyable classes!
What are you most looking forward to about your internship this summer?
This summer I am most looking forward to getting more real-world experience and more design practice. Seeing a project that I contributed to go from paper to reality is one of the aspects of structural engineering that excites me the most!
When you’re not at Apex, what will you be doing this summer?
When I am not at Apex, I will be training for my second half-marathon, which a friend talked me into doing for our 21st birthdays this July. I will also be gearing up for the FE exam and the upcoming academic year. I hold executive positions in several campus organizations and honors societies, so I will definitely be spending some time preparing so they can hit the ground running once classes begin.
What’s your favorite season?
My favorite season is winter! I am originally from Minnesota, and I have always loved a cozy snowy day. Although, I don’t mind not having to shovel as much now that I live in Kansas.
Dream vacation?
It is hard to choose just one dream vacation. It would probably have to involve stops in both Iceland and New Zealand, places I have been lucky enough to visit once and am eager to visit again!
Fun fact?
My favorite fun fact is that I have been inside a volcano! In Iceland there is a dormant one you can explore if you are willing to be dropped down via a very cage-like elevator. On the hike to the site, you also get to walk through the old lava tubes from the last eruption. It was an incredible experience!
Daniel Lane

Daniel will be a senior at the University of Colorado Boulder and will graduate next May with a degree in Architectural Engineering. He is interning at our Denver office this summer working on residential projects.
What sparked your interest in structural engineering?
I have always loved buildings and the fact that I can see my work built really stood out to me. Being able to physically see your work is a very cool gratification which I felt like I wanted to be a part of.
What are you most looking forward to about your internship this summer?
I am most looking forward to structurally designing or helping with the design of residential homes.
When you’re not at Apex, what will you be doing this summer?
I will be hiking, camping, traveling, and hanging out with my friends as much as I can outside of work. I love the outdoors and plan to spend all of my free time there.
What’s your favorite season?
My favorite season is fall.
Dream vacation?
My dream vacation is to go snowboarding and backpacking in Japan.
Fun fact?
I have 12 tattoos.
Kaden Brewer

Kaden is heading into his junior year at Kansas State University and is planning to graduate in the spring of 2028 with a degree in Architectural Engineering. He is interning at our Kansas City office this summer working on residential projects.
What sparked your interest in structural engineering?
My junior year in high school I had an internship in a carpentry shop in Kansas City, KS. It then turned into a love for how buildings are made then how to make them.
What are you most looking forward to about your internship this summer?
I’m excited to learn more about the business side and how structural engineering works from when the work is given to us to when we ship the work out.
When you’re not at Apex, what will you be doing this summer?
I’ll be spending time with my family, moving into my new place in Manhattan, I’m also taking a class over the summer as well.
What’s your favorite season?
Fall by far is my favorite season. There are so many things to do around fall like football and fairs. It’s also not just miserably hot and I don’t feel like I’m drowning in the air.
Dream vacation?
Belize would be a fun spot to go. They have nice beaches and would be a fun place to be for a week.
Fun fact?
I’m a certified open water scuba diver, which means I can dive in most places in the ocean. The coolest thing I have seen was a 100-year-old giant clam. It was roughly 4 ft long and 3 ft tall and yes it will take your hand for a snack if you stick it inside.
